Two of a Kind was the first time I heard Earl the Pearl and Bob James. It was nearly 30 years ago and is by far one of my most favorite listening pleasures. It was this album that moved Earl Klugh to the position of my "Favorite" Jazz artist. I currently only have the old album but will purchase the CD today/5(26).

Dec 09,  · An intriguing album and possibly the best, most polished of the James/Klugh collaborations, though that isn't saying much. Side one is more solid. The first two tracks are upbeat jazzy pop numbers with undercurrents of late disco.4/5(89).

Keyboardist Bob James and acoustic guitarist Earl Klugh struck gold with this session, recently reissued on CD. The formula hasn't changed much in succeeding years. Both Klugh and James are capable musicians; they demonstrated on this collection of light, innocuous melodies and occasionally interesting backbeats a high degree of professionalism. Klugh is a first-rate guitarist whose solos are 8/

Bob James' outing with guitarist Earl Klugh takes the listener on an extremely relaxing journey on this release. James' soft-edged keyboards blend effortlessly with Klugh's acoustic guitar, while Harvey Mason maintains steady, soft percussion in the background, and bassist Gary King jams gently along.
